Year 6 visit Bletchley Park
Year 6 had a wonderful day at Bletchley Park, once the top-secret home to the World War Two code-breakers, to support their learning in history.
They spent the day learning about Alan Turing, one of the most well-known code-breakers at Bletchley Park. For the early part of World War Two, he was head of Hut 8, working on decrypting the German naval Enigma. During this time he designed the famous Bombe machine which would help speed up the process of decrypting Enigma and arguably paved the way for the first computer to be built by other Codebreakers at Bletchley Park.
The children had an amazing day, consolidating their history learning and on returning to school, have produced some very detailed and beautifully presented double-page spreads about the importance of Bletchley Park and the vital role Alan Turing played in World War Two.
